Failed to make the project public?

Hi I made a project for the Reddit challenge and used their bolt template to begin working. The issue I am encountering is that I could not make the project public. I got to know that project started using GitHub repo could not be made public. One of the solution proposed by mentor was to duplicate the final project to see if it works. Duplicating the project did allow me to make the project public but it lose all the history made with bolt. I am wondering that if submitting this new project that has been duplicated from the previous made project in bolt is allowed and would be considered valid?
I tried reaching out to support@bolt.new but maybe due to so many participants I did not get any response yet.

P.S. I do need to make some changes so if I make the changes in the app that has been duplicated from the final project in bolt will that be considered a valid project?

That is a great question! I think as long as you make that clear within the project submission you should be all set. Thank you,

One more thing is it the Devpost team that would decide that whether the project has been made in bolt for the project to pass stage 1?
And also is it within the rules to duplicate the project and work on it?

Hello Gurneesh, Our team will be helping review submissions for baseline eligibility during stage 1.
There is nothing within the rules about duplicating the project and continuing to work on it as a separate project. Just be sure that the version that is submitted to the judges is not updated after the deadline. Best of luck!

Hi Michelle, just want to confirm this again since I read some people talking about this on Discord and had different views on this. Is it alright to submit the project that has been duplicated from the project that has been started in Bolt?
The issue is I used the template that Reddit provided for Bolt and close to the end I found out that projects started using GitHub template could not be made public. So then I duplicated that project within the bolt and made some changes to this new copied project. And this copied project is what I could make public and planning to submit.

Hi Gurneesh, There is a specific channel on Discord for the Reddit challenge so they might know best for any technical questions on how to build or publish the project. In terms of eligibility, just be sure the final project follows the requirements listed here: https://worldslargesthackathon.devpost.com/rules#project-requirements

I asked the reddit team they said that they would just be checking the final apps running on Reddit. But my question was for whether doing the aforementioned would make my project invalid for the hackathon and unfortunately I could not find anything like that in the rules as well

Hi Gurneesh, Sorry for the confusion as this instance is pretty specific. I think it would be fine as you mentioned the original project was started in Bolt and as long as that project was also newly built by you for the hackathon (after or on May 30). This means the original project you copied belongs to you, is new, and was started on Bolt. Best of luck!
