Can I join the hackathon?
Can I create the custom application not using the Bolt and Can I submit? Because I need to integrate the API and all so not possible entirely with the bolt

Hello! Thanks for your interest! The countries that are excluded from participation are Brazil, China, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Quebec, Russia, Syria and any other country designated by the United States Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control. Please see the full eligibility rules here https://worldslargesthackathon.devpost.com/rules#3-eligibility
The main requirement is to "build a NEW application primarily with Bolt.new" and there will be additional challenges announced before May 30 that might include third party app requirements. Please see the an overview of the requirements here https://worldslargesthackathon.devpost.com/#challenge-requirements
Please note that projects must be newly created after the start of the Hackathon Submission period which starts on May 30. Best of luck!

You can most definitely integrate an API in Bolt. You don't need to only use prompts in this hackathon and can write custom code, the only requirement is that you try to use bolt as the predominate method of building.
Example:
Give Bolt your initial prompt.
Write API integration and add to the project
Prompt Bolt to build a UI for the integration you added.
Continue to iterate

Hello! Thank you again for your questions. After further discussions with the Bolt team we are providing the following clarity. Sorry for the confusion here and any inconvenience.
We will be adding this to the rules in the next few days but I wanted to let you know as it was discussed:
While we recognize that not every part of the development process may be ideally suited to Bolt, the core functionality and final experience must run within Bolt. A light degree of flexibility is allowed, but the focus must remain on showcasing Bolt as the primary platform.
What This Means:
Primary Development in Bolt:
• The initial structure and main development must begin in Bolt.new.
• Projects must demonstrate meaningful use of Bolt’s capabilities and be functional entirely within the Bolt environment.
External Tools (Allowed in Support Roles):
• Tools like Figma, ChatGPT, and other AI/code assistants may be used for idea development, design, prototyping, or generating isolated code snippets.
• Use of other platforms is permitted only in areas where Bolt is currently less suited—this should be kept minimal and clearly documented.
Badge Requirement:
• The final, submitted project must include the auto-applied “Built on Bolt” badge, which will be automatically added to qualifying deployments.
Project Review & Evaluation:
• While evaluation may involve some subjectivity, judging will prioritize submissions that are clearly and primarily built on Bolt.
• Creative use of Bolt is encouraged, but the project should still be a representative example of what Bolt can do today.
